How could there be a more superlative modality for in-depth analysis of one’s mind, at every level, than the science and art of astrology? Our recent explorations in mind-science have opened even more possibilities for astrology to be used as a tool of psychological and even spiritual diagnosis. We are now capable of seeing easily and quickly to the very source of our clients’ distress.
And yet, every astrologer is aware that her precious inspiring guidance may be lost to the world once the client is out the door and securely positioned back in his native comfort zone.
When the client leaves the astrologer’s gaze, he may ride home on a ray of hope. However, it is in the application of the astrologer’s wisdom that assistance is so often needed to sustain that hope and bring about the changes that are required to heal his life, especially when the issue has already been one of disease or depression1.
To this purpose, a perfect tool to complement astrological diagnosis is the revived art of flower essence therapy, which is a form of “energetic medicine”. These remedies are beautifully safe to apply (internally or externally), are relatively inexpensive, and can be enormously powerful in their effect when used over an appropriate span of time. To appreciate the complementarity of these two modalities, we will need to acknowledge their mutual source, which is actually “mind”.
MIND AND ENERGY
Every thought, whether conscious or unconscious, manifests as a frequency pattern. Thoughts are a form of energy. Our brain circuitry is created, moment by moment, by our thoughts and concepts. As Joe Dispenza, D.C., has informed us in his comprehensive book, Evolve Your Brain: The Science of Changing Your Mind,
The brain possesses elasticity, an ability to shut down old pathways of thought and form new ones, at any age, at any time. Moreover, it can do so relatively quickly…
“Our thoughts literally become matter.”2.
Planets in our solar system create frequency patterns by their orbital paths in much the same way as we measure the “cycles per second” of sound waves, though planets may have “cycles per years”, which are, of course, inaudible to our limited aural sense. The orbital paths of these planets are actually aligned by distances that create “musical harmony”³. Astrology involves the interpretation of these cosmic forces as they interact with the Earth’s field which then impacts upon our brain circuitry and hence psyche 4.
We do not have to be slaves to these greater frequencies.
Rather, we can utilise them with awareness as to the inner reactions they invoke for us personally. We can alter our minds at any level. Naturally, the deeper life-long concepts are harder to shift, as these are the ultimate source of our emotional reactions. It is at this level that flower essence therapy can be uniquely effective.
The potent content of a flower remedy is not a physical substance, such as a mineral, or enzyme, but is comprised solely of the vibratory frequency patterns emitted from the flower, which are captured in water. This is an imprint of the “mind” or “soul” of the living plant, as the flower is an expression of the highest concentration of life-force5 in the plant.
As mind manifests essentially as a collection of vibratory frequencies, and as astrology is a science of mind, based on such frequencies, there is a natural correspondence between a flower essence and a particular thought-form or concept, as well as its astrological counterpart. Astrology then becomes the diagnosis, and the flower remedy a powerful part of the cure.
As our mind operates at many levels, one essence alone is not always sufficient to shift deeply-ingrained beliefs and behaviours in any permanent way. One thought-form is connected to another and to another again, so that our personal reality is built upon complex experiences that have been compounded over time. We are often not aware of the uniqueness of the world-view we have composed within our own mind-stream.
When our conscious rational motivation is in conflict with our unconscious conceptual thought-forms, we may unknowingly generate an insidious program of self-sabotage in any area of our lives.
Untangling the web of mind-associations we have created may require complex formulas of flower essences, assisting us to create a new and more positive view of life and of our own capabilities. This is even more pertinent at this time of world-change, where we are all challenged to find our highest purpose within an ethical framework for the benefit of society at large.
MASTER ESSENCES
Designing a flower essence formula to heal a complex self-sabotage program involves the use of some of the select few flower remedies that are globally acknowledged as “master essences”. These can be powerful adjuncts to any formula requiring stimulus at various levels of mind. Two that I invariably include when self-sabotage is evident is the Waratah (pictured above) from Australian Bush Flower Essences and the Lotus (pictured below), my personal favourite being from the Aum Himalaya Sanjeevini range of India, though there are a number of excellent Lotus essences made around the world.
The Waratah is especially significant here.
This stunning flower is magnificent in both its size and vibrant red colour. It resembles Eastern depictions of the crown chakra of “one-thousand petals”, though it is of the colour that stimulates life-force and the survival instincts. Perhaps we could see this as linking “survival” to a whole-brain experience at the crown chakra (highest potential) level. Producer, Ian White, has suggested that this remedy promotes “courage, tenacity, adaptability, strong faith, enhancement of survival skills”. All of these qualities are required to combat insidious self-sabotage. And more importantly, the Waratah has been known to discourage people from suicidal actions.
Of course, one does not need to feel suicidal to be in the grip of a sabotage pattern. However, when we forge ahead, denying the sabotaging program in the psyche, the subtle message that is relayed throughout the cells of the body is that we are indeed “suiciding”. This is precisely what causes the stress.
The Lotus essence stimulates balance within the mind at all levels, and carries the thought-form of spiritual inspiration. It therefore may over-ride our baser narcissistic instincts for self-preservation which block our altruistic connection to others and the outer world, and hence our life purpose. In the Orient, the lotus flower has long been a symbol of spiritual purity, as it emerges from the muddy depths (our clouded perceptions) to the brilliant sunshine (of spiritual reality), high above the water (of our emotional nature). The Lotus is known as the king of all flower essences.
With these two remedies as the basis for our formula, we could then add other flower essences to over-ride the exact source of the problem, being the unconscious outdated concepts determined through astrological analysis. If relationships had been sabotaged, we would add essences for intimacy, emotional balance, and relating, or sexual healing. For career sabotage, we may align essences to the talent involved, such as with writing, music, the visual arts, or mathematics, etc.
Such a client may have the concept of his stifled talent linked in his psyche to an unconscious past-life “imprint” of persecution or failure, or a personally fatal situation involving jealousy from others. Flower essences addressing personal power, courage, acceptance from others, and an ability to receive praise, may also be required in this circumstance, so that the prior experiences become sources of expertise without the emotional charge they once ignited.
Clearing subconscious (emotional) and unconscious (conceptual) fears opens the way for the entire astrology chart to be accessed as a toolbox of talents to be used together for our highest fulfilment for the betterment of others. Flower remedies will speed this process greatly by giving the client a taste of what this freedom of expression feels like from within his own mind. These remedies act like windows into an alternate reality we may not have realised we were capable of living.

NOTES:
1 Depression is especially the issue of our time. This is quite often essentially the result of people being unfulfilled in the highest expression of their life purpose, which in turn affects the heart adversely, filtering down to every other area of their lives. This makes it more difficult for the depressed person to deal with life’s emotional or stressful situations as they occur.

Very nice article Kerrie, I added you to my Yahoo home page! I have yet to experience the Australian Bush Flower Essences, and look forward to doing so, and perhaps Waratah would be a good one to start with! After adding Lotus, I could see how these could be then “fine-tuned” for whatever is going on. And you are right, we do NOT have to be “slaves” to the planetary energies – we can use them for growth! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you AarTiana! The Australian essences are so different in frequency from most other ranges. It is an unusual and very ancient land, here in ‘Oz’. I like to mix Australian essences with many from all over the world.
I found your Blog article on flower essences for Saturn in Libra: it is very inspiring! Thank you.
